This is exactly how Jesus taught it. “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.” Here is how I put this truth into Bostonian for our people at Seven Mile Road: “We can either have our money, our Victorian homes, our Harvard degrees, our Fidelity 401ks, our Herb Chamber’s Honda Pilots, our Jordan’s Furniture sectionals, our season tickets to the Red Sox, our Cape vacations, our Amazon Echo, our fridges that talk to us, and our fresh white Adidas crowtops … or we can have God. But we cannot have both.”
