19 | Hustle
This excerpt is from our chapter on working hard:
"This, of course, is not to mention the real super-hustle-heroes, our wives. Rome wasn’t built in a day, but if the wives of our Seven Mile Road pastors were on the job, it might have been. These ferociously feminine women have tirelessly supported their husbands, not only “hustling at home” (my translation) as Titus 2 so beautifully requires, but at church as well, welcoming newcomers, discipling younger women, teaching children, visiting the sick, engineering podcasts, planning events, and doing the kabillion invisible things that godly women have done throughout the ages. My wife and sisters hustle in the mold of those venerable Ephesian widows who “brought up children, showed hospitality, washed the feet of the saints, cared for the afflicted, and devoted themselves to every good work.” Every Christmas, when our broader Seven Mile Road pastoral team and their wives gather for a meal, and I inevitably choke up with gratitude and awe when thanking them for their partnership in the gospel."
